Eating dirt, pulling your hair out, getting aroused by vomit - there are some addictions that not even the Betty Ford Clinic knows what to do with.
Believe it or not, there are people out there who are obsessed with - and chemically drawn to - some of the most disturbing, unthinkable, and self-harming behavior imaginable.
While there may be no 12-step program to overcoming an addiction to self-cannibalism, give it time.
At the rate today's rehabbing Hollywood starlets are going, it's probably just a matter of time before one of them falls victim to these disorders du jour.
Here's the names of these conditions:
1. Pica
People with this condition feast on non-food substances.
Substances like: clay, dirt, sand, stones, pebbles, hair, feces, lead, laundry starch, vinyl gloves, plastic, pencil erasers, ice, fingernails, paper, paint chips, coal, chalk, wood, plaster, light bulbs, needles, string, cigarette butts, wire, and burnt matches.
You read that right. They eat those things. Yummy!
2. Trichotillomania
These people actually pull their hair out (for real) when stressed. You don't wanna associate with these chops else you never know... they can mistakenly pull your own hair when they run of theirs.
3. Emetophilia
A sick-ass condition by being sexually aroused when vomiting. Or being vomited on by the vomiting partner. Or watching other dudes vomiting.
4. Dermatillomania
This one drives people to compulsively pick at their skin, often inflicting self-injury and scarring. Ouch!
5. Abasiophilia
Condition when person is aroused by the physically disabled and mobility impaired, like those in wheelchairs. Lucky them! They can attract an instantly aroused partner.
6. Self-cannibalism
You don't wanna know!
7. Pyromania
This is when the persona experience feelings of arousal and gratification when setting fires.
8. Sneezing Fetish
Where the person is aroused when/by sneezing.
9. Body Integrity Identity Disorder
Where a person craves the amputation of one or more limbs. Yes, their own.
10. Hematolagnia
"...sexual pleasure is derived from the sight, touch, feel, and taste of blood." Like vampires.
